Discover Hooga House: An Outdoor Sauna Experience for Recharging & Grounding
If you’ve been following Healing Waters, Wild Heart, you know I seek spaces that blend wellness, nature, and community. Recently, I visited Hooga House in Golden, Colorado, to try their new Nordic-inspired dry sauna, and it was a grounding, rejuvenating, and recharging experience.
Whether you’re a solo traveler, work from home and in need of a reset, or are an adventurous woman with ADHD craving rituals that bring balance, Hooga House is a must-visit if you are in the Denver metro area.
What Makes Hooga House Special:
Hooga House isn’t just a sauna—it’s a wellness sanctuary in the city inspired by hygge (coziness, balance, and comfort). Highlights include:
Detoxifying sweat in a modern, calming dry sauna
A space to pause, breathe, and reset your nervous system
Community-based wellness workshops and events (they just opened so stay tuned!)
Mindful design that welcomes first-timers and seasoned sauna-goers
My Sauna Ritual at Hooga House:
As a woman with ADHD, slowing down doesn’t always come naturally. My mind is often buzzing, jumping from thought to thought. I can’t really think of many moments where I don’t feel like I have a million tabs open at once, but stepping into the sauna at Hooga House created a shift. The steady heat and quiet space wrapped me in stillness, helping my hyperactive brain find rare moments of calm focus.
Between sauna sessions, I practiced contrast therapy, moving from the intense warmth of the dry sauna into the refreshing chill of a cold plunge. This back-and-forth cycle, rooted in ancient wellness traditions, isn’t just about physical recovery; it’s also about resetting the nervous system. The heat relaxes muscles, increases circulation, and slows the mind, while the cold plunge invigorates the body, boosts mood, and sharpens clarity. Together, they create a rhythm of release and renewal.
For me, this ritual became more than wellness. It was a way to train my body and mind to shift gears, to practice grounding in real time. Each round of sauna heat followed by a cold plunge gave me a reset button, teaching my ADHD brain how to move from restless to centered. Though I have to admit that I have a lot of work to do to withstand cold plunge temperatures under 50 degrees!
